Leveraging digital technologies for unique and disruptive User Experiences
New digital technologies allow businesses to create unique and disruptive user experiences, surprising their customers and enhancing their brand identity.
Design rich experiences that leave a memorable impact on your visitors and customers.
See the example with the car industry below.
This may sounds ordinary, imagine a car manufacturer providing a touchscreen interface for users to customize their vehicles. Now, take this experience to the next level by allowing users to transport their custom-designed car into a VR simulator. Here, they can explore every detail inside and out, take it for a virtual drive on a circuit or road, and seamlessly integrate the finalized model into their online client space. As a final touch, they can even walk away with a 3D-printed miniature version of their car as a keychain.
This was demonstrated by Toyota at an auto show a few years ago.
DS Virtual Vision:
Through the DS car website, users can configure their future cars. After completion, they have the opportunity to explore their virtual vehicle in VR at a DS Store using the DS Virtual Vision system.
Launched in 2016, DS Virtual Vision, developed by DS in partnership with Dassault Systèmes, allows customers to view various interiors of the vehicle. After leaving the "cockpit," a scenario transports them to Place Vendôme in Paris, where they can change the car's paint color and wheels.
"We transformed our digital department into a 'Sales Funnel' department."— Arnaud Ribault, Marketing Director of DS Automobiles
Augmented Reality Instruction Manuals:
Toyota and Porsche use Augmented Reality to showcase and/or explain the complex systems inside their cars. The apps display not only aerodynamics animations in X-ray mode but also complex drive and battery technologies—a great way to enhance brand awareness.
The Future of Mixed Reality?
BMW is already envisioning the future of racing with BMW Mixed Reality, blending real driving on a virtual track using VR headsets. The possibilities seem limitless.
Creating Unprecedented User Experiences
These technologies have great potential to engage users and strengthen brand loyalty. We must consider how to leverage this engagement with our target audience while showcasing our products and brands.
Pushing the limits even further, consider BMW i Vision Dee, an Augmented Reality concept with unrealistic safety implications but fascinating potential in various other areas.
